Barb Herspring, PA-C grew up in rural Kansas. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Kansas State University with a degree in Management, certificate in International Business, and minor in Spanish she felt the call to go into medicine and completed the PA Program with honors through Wichita State University.
Barb has a wide range of experience working in Infectious Disease, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Occupational Health as well as a Rural Health Clinic, Critical Access Hospital and ER. She has always had a passion for health maintenance and disease prevention. She especially enjoys investigating complex medical conditions and helping patients to find the underlying cause of disease.
Inspired by her own health journey, Barb has spent the last 10 years researching nutrition and exploring other aspects of Functional Medicine. She has read countless books, participated in many webinars, completed training through Functional Medicine Fast Track, is a certified DNA Life practitioner, and is in the process of pursuing certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine. She has spent the last 2 years coaching others with complicated health histories in lifestyle changes to achieve optimal wellness.
While she enjoys all aspects of Functional Medicine, she has a special interest in Autoimmunity, Women’s Health, Mental Health and Early Cognitive Decline.
Barb met her husband, Kyle, while attending K-State. He works as an ER PA for the VA. They have three children, Grace, Grant and Gianna, who attend Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. In her free time Barb enjoys practicing yoga, spending time outside with her family and their 2 goldendoodles, volunteering at her kids’ school, leading a weekly bible study, as well as cooking and baking healthy versions of her favorite foods.
